CorVascular launches ASUS handheld ultrasound range at SVU 2026
CorVascular has commercially launched the ASUS handheld ultrasound portfolio for the US vascular market, using the Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) 2026 Annual Conference in National Harbor, Maryland as its debut platform. The Minneapolis-based distributor is the exclusive US importer and vascular market distributor for ASUS's medical ultrasound range, a designation that underpins its push into point-of-care imaging for peripheral vascular assessment.
The centrepiece of the launch is the ASUS LU800, a wireless handheld device that received FDA 510(k) clearance in January 2026. The unit is designed for continuous clinical use, offering up to 2.5 hours of battery life, a cable-free form factor, and DICOM connectivity for integration with picture archiving and communication systems. Workflow automation features are delivered through ASUS's MediConnect app, which handles image acquisition and optimisation on-device.
Spencer Lien, Managing Director of CorVascular, said clinicians need point-of-care tools that "seamlessly integrate into their daily diagnostic workflow without sacrificing performance or battery endurance." The company is hosting live, hands-on demonstrations at the SVU exhibit throughout the conference, which runs until 1 August 2026.
Michael Wu, Global Head of Business Development at ASUS Healthcare Solutions, described the SVU showcase as marking the transition of the technology "from announcement to active adoption in the U.S. healthcare market."

The handheld ultrasound segment has grown rapidly over the past several years, driven by a broader shift toward point-of-care diagnostics and the clinical appeal of reducing dependence on fixed imaging suites. Several established medical device makers, including GE HealthCare with its Vscan range and Philips with the Lumify platform, already compete in the portable and handheld ultrasound space. ASUS's entry, distributed through CorVascular's specialist vascular channel, is positioned as a more focused alternative tailored specifically to peripheral vascular workflows rather than the broader point-of-care market.
The vascular diagnostics niche is a relatively defined segment, encompassing duplex scanning, ankle-brachial index testing, and venous insufficiency assessment, often performed across hospital outpatient clinics, vascular surgery practices, and community care settings. A compact device with extended battery life and wireless operation addresses real workflow constraints in these environments, particularly in mobile or multi-site screening programmes.
Regulatory path and platform roadmap
The LU800's 510(k) clearance, granted by the US Food and Drug Administration in January 2026, provides the legal basis for commercial distribution but does not convey any particular clinical performance claim beyond substantial equivalence to a predicate device. CorVascular has indicated the device is designed to integrate over time with its existing VasoGuard platform, suggesting a longer-term ambition to connect handheld imaging data with its broader vascular diagnostic infrastructure.
The SVU conference represents a logical launch venue given its specialist audience of vascular sonographers, technologists, and physicians.
